Return to Base

After breakfast at the Dowans hotel in Aberlour we started our return journey to Aberdeen. Being New Year's Day most places are closed along the way. Although it was slightly out of our way we headed into Banchory for a coffee at the Tor Na Coille Hotel. The photograph was taken in the lounge while we had coffee and shortbread. Most other visitors were still having lunch so we were able to enjoy our coffee in a deserted lounge, but with the music from a nearby piano.

Our last visit to the hotel was the same day in 2012. Despite being infrequent (annual) visitors we are recognised there. We then had an invigorating walk to the Falls of Feugh. The River Feugh was flowing over the Falls even faster than usual. Several people were taking photographs of the Falls, I dare say some of them are on Blip! I was not happy with mine and so they do not appear here today!

Having had a walk we returned to Aberdeen and more precisely to the bar of Malmaison Hotel in Aberdeen, very busy, before having a delicious steak pie at the home of a friend.
