Records Fall
After the hottest UK day *ever*, a hot, humid night. I recorded the largest ever number of moths in my garden. After many decades of moth trapping, the Country Recorder a few miles away had the same experience. Although there are joys, suburban moth trapping can often be a dispiriting experience and it's nice to see that there is an upside to catastrophic global heating. In reality, I was overwhelmed by the number of moths and glad it's not always that frenetic. Among several new species I have not recorded before, this rather nice Double-striped Tabby, Hypsopygia glaucinalis.
