Learning disabilities
15 years ago, a group of ladies with learning disabilities cut, ironed, pinned, sewed, pressed, assembled and packaged this 441 piece quilt.
It’s not perfect, which is why I chose it to remember them by. Tears, tantrums and laughs went into making these items in a sheltered workshop, organised to keep the ladies occupied in a simulated work settling. The alternative was sitting in a day centre all day long, until their buses arrived to take them home to their families.
