Never Give Up

Dear Diary,

Last month I had John cut a branch off of Auntie's tree which was too low.  This morning, I saw a new shoot springing up next to the severed branch glowing in the sun.  Auntie's Tree does not give up and it wanted me to know it!  The same thing happened with the old apple tree in back.  Matt did some serious pruning last fall and this spring lots of new shoots appeared.  One of my favorite books is The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben.  Perhaps it is because I grew up surrounded by woods but trees have always held a fascination for me.  I think it might be time for a little "forest bathing" for me!  If you haven't heard of Shirin-Yoku, here is a link.
