Tystie with Dragonet for Lunch

I was on Westray a couple of weeks back and meant to head for Sanday, but overlooked the rescheduling of ferry sailings due to the Westray Regatta. So off to Westray at 7.30 and back on a 8.30pm sailing. A long day but it did mean that I didn't have to walk fast on a very hot day, and a glorious sunny day on Westray is no chore I walked up toward Noup and came off the road at Backaras, following the path to the cliffs and up to North Hill and Noup Head. Lots of tysties at what looks a likely colony and the rest of the birds much as last visit- except now masses of chicks, which is great. Another influx of painted lady butterflies is on (see comments) with 30+ and lots meadow brown, couple red admiral and one silver Y. Last time I had 3 corncrakes, this time a mere 2 (!) at much the same area, just west of Noltland Castle. Tysties are also known as black guillemot.
