Contrasts

Furbie checked into her hotel yesterday, so I headed off early en route for Gatwick Airport.

We’ve had lashings of rain. My tomato plants were floored and the water for the hedgehogs was fuller than last night.

The M42 was horrid. So was the first part of the M40. Fortunately it was quiet but serious rain is never easy to drive through.

Well south of Oxford it cleared to cloud - and crawling traffic past Heathrow as ever. Sussex was beautifully sunny.

I arrived with plenty of time to take the secret back route to the little Indian restaurant. They remembered me and were lovely. So was my leisurely lunch.

Sunshine, butterflies, wildflowers - and even blackberries.

Please don’t tell me that Autumn is coming.
