Half a dozen cakes
Despite the rain continuing to fall in Manchester today, I had a lovely afternoon tea with a friend from book club. She was made redundant shortly after me so we bonded over our shared job search and all the stresses that go with it. It really helped to have someone cheering me on from the sidelines and we were in contact almost daily with messages of support and updates on our latest applications and interviews.
We said we would treat ourselves to a posh afternoon tea when we had both secured new jobs. Sadly her job has taken her to London but she is coming back to her flat in Manchester at the weekend until she knows all is working out in her new position.
Brown's is a beautiful building and there was a pianist playing in the corner all afternoon. Not sure I needed two scones, summer pudding, a profiterole, lemon tart and a slice of Victoria sponge though!
