The English Civil War...

..re-enacted today at Leeds Castle as part of the 900th anniversary celebration and an absolutely magnificent Carnival of History pageant! We have travelled through 900 years in a day and it's been just amazing! 

I have taken so many photos! I've just re-lived the day by going through them. Here, and I quote, " a skirmish prior to the Battle of Maidstone in 1648 breaks out. The dashing mounted Cavaliers of doomed King Charles take on the might of General Fairfax's New Model Army". The Royalists were defeated and many lay dead or dying. 

We met up with Lala and Mr L and I was very grateful for her far greater historical knowledge! She was delighted to be sharing in the celebration of the history of the "most beautiful castle in the world" in her special anniversary year of working there! Great to be there today with them!
