MONO MONDAY - OVERLAY
Overlay : noun
(a) something laid over something else; covering.
(b) a layer or decoration of something applied:
I knew what overlay meant, so got out the green glitter that was in one of my craft drawers, but as I was getting it out, the lid came off and it spilled everywhere - not a good start, so I then had to spend some time clearing that up. Of course, the green wasn’t going to show up anyway, because the photograph had to be mono - so I thought that wouldn't really work.
I decided that I would leave taking photographs for a while as I needed to clean our spare bedroom ready for our visitor on Thursday and whilst doing that, I came across a couple of photographs that I decided might work for today’s challenge.
I found two photographs of our two sons, Martyn, the older one and Julian, who likes to be known as Jules, the younger. Fortunately, in both photographs they were in the same position - Martyn on the left and Jules on the right. In the bottom layer, Martyn would have been about 8 years old and Jules about 6 and in the top layer they are both grown men! I believe the one of Martyn was taken when he was doing a presentation in London for his company a few years ago and the one of Jules was taken in December 2014 when a fellow Blipper met up with him in Bangkok, where he was living at the time.
My Panasonic Lumix TZ100 doesn’t do double exposures, as far as I can tell, so it was back to using my iPhone and looking for an app. I already had one, but that wasn’t very good and kept asking me to download games to play - but I didn’t have time for all that malarkey - I had cleaning to do!
Mr. HCB had helped me earlier by moving a few things out of the bedroom, and then I told him to go out and do the jobs he had to do in the garden - he was just hanging around by then, and quite frankly was getting on my nerves - and I thought he would be better out there than with me!
I did a bit more dusting and then looked for another app and found one called Blend - this seemed to do the job I wanted and this is the result. Not perfect, but I still had more cleaning to do so didn’t have the time to play much but this quote by Ansel Adams is what I did this morning - oh and I did get the bedroom finished and it looks good!
“You don’t take a photograph -
you make it.”
Ansel Adams
