A Work in Progress
This is a set of two dresses that I started almost two weeks before Christmas. It's the last one that I started and as of yet, haven't finished it. Granted, Christmas is a rather busy time of the year but that's not the reason why this particular set of dresses remains unfinished. Since colder weather has set it, my joints don't quite feel like tackling the job of hand sewing the small details of the dress.
The plans so far :
The outer dress, a corset with an attached skirt still needs something to hold the lacing in the back. At the moment, I have it pinned to the dress underneath. I have a bit of black and silver threaded rick rack that should suffice. (My hands can't handle grommets at the moment.) I then would like to add some seed pearls and rouched red ribbon at the hemline. I also want to do something to spice up the neckline of the corset. I have bits and bobs of lace, ribbon and decorative things to sort through yet before I make a decision.
The dress underneath...I'll probably add some of the same rouched red satin ribbon and seed pearls to the hem above the white lace. Either way, it's still a rather large and tedious project for something so small.
She's a gorgeous girl, and even with her elf ears (and minus a 6th finger on her hand), she prefers to be called Black Nan. I can't convince her that 'Black Nan' really isn't very popular, even in today's modern society. I do feel sorry for the poor girl, though. Reading the amount of history that I have, I have a suspicion that even though Anne was a social climber, her male family members had a larger hand in her betrothal and marriage to King Henry VIII is more than what history lets on.
