Yacht on Lake Taupo

Lake Taupo was formed in the 4th biggest volcanic eruption in the world - ever. Theh pyroclastic flow stretches 100kms. It is a large lake, used for fishing, swimming, and all types of boating, and has lots of holiday homes around the edge.

The lake bed is still active, since the eruption in AD186, and it's possible to find warm streams and pools around the lake where you can sit and soak in the warm water.
