The Big Top

It was such a lovely start to the day weather wise - windless with warm sunshine-making the early walk round the policies most enjoyable. The big top has arrived in the Meadows, the duck boards and extra paraphernalia are installed- the circus is here again.

Later as the clouds gathered and the first drops of rain fell uncertainly on the patio, I titivated myself up to go and have lunch with neighbours. This was a lively affair which threatened to spill over into teatime so long did it last, but eventually someone looked at their watch and decided that we all had homes to go to and we should leave the host and hostess to the washing up.

I am now trying to decide what clothes I need to take to Orkney. Do I presume it will be warm and dry as it has been lately or will I pack for wind, rain and the cold which is often the norm? It seems from the bulging suitcase that I am covered for all eventualities as usual. Minimalist packing is not my forte.
