Diary of an Edinburgher

A Scottish summer...

The day started well - warm and sunny with breakfast outside in the sun and we considered where we could go for a drive - mainly with a cafe/restaurant/pub involved (for us), and a beach/grassy walk (for Arch).

But we decided just to pop to the new favourite cafe instead. Just as well - by the time I got home again, it had turned cold, and there was no point putting the washing out, a light drizzle had started. JR and Archie had a run in the Meadows, and got home before the more persistent drizzle which has lasted all afternoon. Dreich!

We spent the afternoon reading or snoozing (Archie) but I eventually switched on the new gas fire (with remote) to warm us up. Archie was intrigued, but got too close. He'll learn.

We had a coffee and luckily we got the last cinnamon bun, even though there was a long queue. Fabby lunches/brunches being served. And there were lots of dogs. In fact, Archie met a nice Lhaso Apso (called Murdo) in the cafe, and then again out on the Meadows, and they had a bit of a run around.

Sunshine as we speak this evening. The hedge is looking hirsute and desperately in need of a vigorous trim. Working up to this task...
