Like two peas in a pod

Shelling some peas for this evenings meal got me thinking about the old saying: “Like two peas in a pod”. Looking at the peas I could see as many differences between individual peas the only similarities being colour and general shape. Perhaps we should bear this in mind when discussing traits of different subsets of the human population?
