Sammy ida Hill
A lovely warm day again, and a sunny morning. Clouded over in the afternoon, and misty this evening.
Another day working on the museum desk. We had a busy morning, a cruise ship in Lerwick again, but it left by 4pm, and a quieter afternoon. Been in the peat hill this evening, walkies with Sammy, and then off to work in the pub later.
Shockwaves across the isles today, as a 40 year old woman got brutally murdered in the early hours of today. This sort of thing doesn't happen here, and it will affect the whole community for a long time. Me and the victim used to pal around in our teenage years, but drifted apart in more recent times. Mixtures of emotions of sadness and anger, and such a horrible end to her life. In other news, a house blew up today also. A gas explosion, ripping the house apart. Thankfully no one killed, but an elderly woman injured.
Finally made it back into the peats this evening, and they are needing it all now. With the poor start to the summer, the ground is still soaking wet. Peerie Brian came by with a load of pallets, and helped make a start to getting them raised up and off the ground. Hopefully this will help. Peerie Brian at the back, and Sammy here to show support too. Taken at the Hill of Fitch, Tingwall.
