Painted Lady

A perfect insect day! Warm sunshine and not too breezy.

At first I thought it would be yet another damselfly (see extra), as I spotted a female banded demoiselle.

But I went butterfly hunting in the formal gardens and was rewarded with a host of painted ladies......
