I Think it's a Sign
Long ago people would drive their horse-drawn carriages through this barn for repairs. There was a blacksmith on the left and buggy repair on the right. Whatever the early settlers needed as they made their way up and down Main Street in Batavia, Illinois, could be had just inside this little drive-through barn.
Ok, I made that up. The only part I know for sure is that this barn is on Main Street. I've wanted to take pictures of this barn for the past two years and I actually did click some off about two weeks ago but decided to blip something else that day. Today was THE day. I headed over and thought I'd stop and get out of the car this time to get a proper shot. The day was rather gray, so the lighting wasn't the best, but never mind. For the past two years I have driven by this barn about once a week and today, for the first time, THE SIGN IS NO LONGER NAILED OVER THE ENTRANCE, it's now just hanging there! Two weeks ago it was in its proper place still. I think it's a sign (well, of course, it is a sign) that things are changing and they're changing fast.
Let this be a lesson to us all - don't wait another day, nails don't hold signs up forever you know.
