Lord Melville's Monument
Rest Day but I didn't orienteer yesterday so BiL John and I entered the sprint race round MacRosty Park in Crieff followed by a steep ascent to the Melville Monument to look for a geocache. John and son R were game but Mr P thought the ascent unnecessary strain for his fluttering heart so sat in the car and did suduko. I can't understand the attraction myself but both Mr P and R are very keen. The geocache was tricky to find, we were very very excited to find it in the end. This is a shot of J and R at the foot of the monument, at about 240m.
After that we visited The Earthquake House in Comrie, one of the first earthquake monitoring stations built in 18 something. We learned that Comrie is the earthquake capital of the UK. Such an interesting day.
