LAUREL AND HOLKER
Mum and I popped into Ulverston this morning (birthplace of Stan Laurel) just to a bit of browsing and a little indulgent shopping (not something I often do). Before we started shopping we went for a tea in the Market Cafe and a fat free frozen yoghurt. i usually like Gillam's but downstairs was busy and Mum couldn't manage those stairs. Ulverston was fairly busy but not overly so.

After the shopping we then went to Holker Hall for lunch and walk around the gardens and deer park.
There appears to have been changes at Holker Hall, management-wise. the Ilex Brasserie is now only really open for events and weddings. The cafe had limited food. Sandwiches were fine, but the rest of the menu was not really available - there were specials on the board - OK if you wanted chips!!
Also on arrival we were greeted by a pleasant gentleman who told us we now have to buy ticket the gardens and grounds in either the
Food Hall or the Gift Shop. They now have a pop up Pub that doesn't open until 3pm!!! I think they must have had a change in the management service that run it as there was a distinct feeling of lack of staff. The food was fine but not as good as it was and I did miss The Ilex as I always headed there for some lunch. Oh well, that's life just some of the many changes.
The gardens were fairly quiet but beautiful. The deer were far in the distance sheltering from humans and midday heat. Worth a visit for that. I've been round the house a few times so didn't go this time.

This is my entry for Flower Friday - many thanks to Annie aka BikerBear for hosting. I'm not actually sure what it is but I'm sure someone will know.
