Painted Lady

I am a bit late to the Painted Lady party. We've seen lots and lots of these lovely butterflies during the last few weeks. They migrate from Northern Africa to Northern Europe when it gets too hot for them. The butterfly stage lasts only two weeks. So it is not individuals that migrate all the way but it is multiple generations. I remember my dad telling me in May or so they had lots and lots of them. It took them a couple of months to get here.

We had a lovely evening with friends we hadn't seen in ages. We started with lovely curry, then a couple of beers in the Meadows and finally some more at ours.
