Among the inevitable talk of change around this time of year, I was reminded of a quote in a book I read late last year that really resonated with me for some reason.

I find it hard to know what to make of this reflection period which is almost forced upon us every year. I feel as though it actually warps my view of the previous 12 months either for better or worse; when in reality most years are a bit of a mixed bag and probably should remain that way in my mind. Having said that, there are people I know who will be happy to put a line under 2012 and I wish them all the best for the future.
