Big Bird!

Took a run up to Amesbury for a business meeting and spotted this big metal bird overlooking the roundabout at the Solstice Park. Why did they put it in such an awkward place - I couldn't get a decent shot of it without it appearing to head-but a street light having smashed a road sign with his bum!
It appeared to have been constructed out of plane parts and there was an information plaque but no convenient parking space to have a closer look so if anyone knows any more about the bird I'd appreciate it.
