Hair Ice
Walking in Craigvinean Forest on a cold day.
Mrs P and I occasionally see dead wood covered in thin fibres of ice like this. The ice is squeezed out of channels in the wood, but it takes a specific fungus to prevent the ice recrystallising into larger lumps. According to Wikipedia the actual fungus wasn't identified until 2015. (Backblipped.)
