RideLondon-Surrey
There have been helicopters overhead for much of the day as they film the big cycle race taking place in London and Surrey. There were races yesterday and today, with the Sunday races coming out into the Surrey countryside, very close to us but not near enough for us to watch. More than an incredible 100.000 cyclists take part over the weekend! There are road closures everywhere, and Normous couldn't get to the golf club for his Sunday bridge.
But it is just one day, and it is good to know that it is now part of an international competition. We enjoy watching the race on tv as they ride up Box Hill (five times!) and the local roads that we know so well. This race is Europe's most successful cycling fundraising event and riders have raised more than £66 million for charity since the event was first staged in 2013.
