The Bunch of Grapes, but not the pub

We are set in the vineyards of the Minervois, and all around are fields of ripening grape. Well, apart from one field. 

It would appear there is enough grape to fill the demand, because this particular farmer has replanted an old vineyard with maize! A traditionally thirsty crop, it is being doused by thousands of litres of water, under the hot and evaporative sun! 

Surely there's no sustainable way to grow this crop in the Aude. I've shown you the grapes, but I'll put a shot I took in the morning, in the extra. You'll have to believe it was maize, the photo foreground is all vines...
