Brown's Clix

Tail light

This is one of my favourite shots from the whole trip.

One of my main personal objectives was to get a shot of a leopard during this trip. We had reached the penultimate evening of our stay and they were proving elusive, until at almost the last minute this one ambled past our game vehicle.

The shot was taken hand-held, using my Canon 7D and 100-400mm lens (not at full extension thank goodness). Lighting was supplied by our game ranger waving a spot-light onto the animal for short periods (flash obviously prohibited). I used the auto-ISO feature, had the aperture set wide open and trusted that the inbuilt lens image stabilisation kept any blurring at the very slow shutter speed to a minimum.

Sometimes you get lucky.
