Diary of an Edinburgher

Archie sees some sights

We missed all the predicted showers today again, and it was another (relatively) hot steamy day. We took a notion to go down to the Craft Fair - JR and Archie walked, but I took the bus.

It wasn’t too busy, but it suddenly got very hot and I needed an ice cream! We walked round to the Grassmarket and to my favourite ice cream shop, which had a big queue outside, but it moved fast. In fact, I went in and sat down while JR, bless her, queued. And what a beautiful ice cream we had too. Boring old me had vanilla (or milk), but adventurous JR had salted caramel and mango and cardamom. Archie had a teensy bit of both.

We then walked through the buzzing Grassmarket, everyone eating and drinking and enjoying the sunshine. Archie started barking when he saw a man in a kilt balancing at the top of a ladder! He’s never seen that before and doesn’t like strange new sights.

Victoria Street was closed to traffic, and full of groups of people taking selfies. Bus home, with JR and Archie hopping off early for a run through the Meadows.

Packing bags, ready for off tomorrow. Haven’t told Archie yet that he’s going on holiday at Rufus's house.
