Caulke Abbey (back blip)

I wanted to go to Derbysihire to visit this abbey - which isn't an abbey at all. It isn't pristine and shows how families struggled to keep up to their huge estates. Several of the rooms show large collections of 'stuff' which built up over many years and then was just left as rooms and large parts of the house were closed up. I really enjoyed the day especially the kitchen gardens and the out buildings. The gardener's office, ice house, grotto and various tunnels which allowed goods to be moved around the grounds were especially impressive. A real treat.
