Kina...

A sea urchin, known by the Maori name of Kina in New Zealand.

When a sea urchin dies, all its spines fall off, leaving only this hard shell. The tiny bumps covering the shell are where the spines were once connected.  




Many thanks for the visits, comments, stars and hearts for yesterday’s snow blip. Definitely a sparse covering compared to many places, but locally, it isn’t often that it falls as low as the Takaka Hill.
