Welcome 2013.

Welcome 2013! Lovely evening tonight spent with M, and the two J's - M's sister and her boyfriend. M was working today, and I popped to the gym for a fairy tortuous All Over Body Workout class (I picked the heaviest weights - won't do that again) and then cleaned the house and did some cooking. When M got home, we finished off making the house look nice, and opened a bottle of wine. M's friend R came over for a drink before a meal out with friends, and when he left we had our tea before the J's arrived. We spent the evening challenging each other to table tennis, playing with sparklers in the garden and, when midnight was close, watching the BBC Scotland Hogmanay celebrations. We had a really great view of Aberdeen's fireworks from our living room window, which was handy too - as long as we squinted from behind the Christmas tree! M's Mum and Dad arrived later on, and we had a bit more mulled wine, warmed with oranges in a copper pot on the woodburner - perfection.

It's been an amazing year - 12 months in my first big-girl job, one of my closest friends having the most gorgeous baby boy, a crashed van, some cracking holidays in Norway, Inverness and Yorkshire, a bizarrely early summer, M coming back to an onshore job and moving house from a one-bed to a six-bed. If 2013 is as good as 2012, we'll be doing OK.
