Red-eyed Fly
aka 'Flesh-Fly'. You could have probably done just fine without the last bit, but that's what members of the Fly Family Sarcophagidae are commonly called, mostly because they are enjoy dining on carrion, dung, decaying material or open wounds of animals. This particular fly and her kind were dining happily on a particularly stinky patch of toadstools which were well past their prime. I could share some more of the very interesting info I dug up on these 'handsome' little flies but I think it best not to go there here. Check out my *extra...for this fly from a different perspective.
