Murcia

It was extremely hot but hazy. D and I sat by the pool for a couple of hours while we waited for the teenagers to get themselves up and dressed. We then drove to Murcia hoping for a bit of culture but failed miserably. It was 41 degrees in the town and everything was shut. We found a bar and had a drink but everyone was far too hot and uncomfortable to walk around or wait for things to open again. We saw the cathedral so it wasn’t a completely wasted journey. D and Alf went off to find a music shop and me and the girls ended up at a shopping centre where we wandered around in air conditioned comfort for an hour or so then D picked us up and we came back to Alcázares. We’d heard of a good tapas restaurant down by the harbour so parked nearby and had dinner there. It was ok, nothing amazing and quite expensive. Alfie enjoyed the prawns and octopus.
Back at the villa now and it’s still 29 degrees. There’s a lovely breeze blowing as usual and the villa is beautifully cool so I think in future we’ll forget culture and stay put .
