Paella for a few

Today is Sant Ciriac day - patron saint of ibiza, so a fiesta day!
I woke headachy, but when we got the invite to go for a swim with the school families, we decided to go. We made sure they knew we could only be a couple of hours, so that 2 hours didn't turn into 7 or 8! So lovely to sit and chat and watch the kids enjoying the pool and each other. Although my headache didn't shift, it was a good change of scenery.
Home do do packing in advance of tomorrow's holiday! We're heading to the UK for 2 weeks...mainly to celebrate my Mom's upcoming 60th, but we're squeezing in a couple of other places too!
Early evening we headed to the annual berenada. You follow a drumming band up from town, through the tunnel and down to the sea...to the rocks where we often go. It's where the Catalan arrived and conquered Ibiza, 8th August 1235. The atmosphere of the procession was, as always, brilliant! Lots of fun, dancing, whistling in the tunnel! There's something about drumming that I find highly emotive - always gives me a huge lump in my throat and goosebumps!
The paella, water and watermelon were all free, courtesy of the town hall! Lots of families and friends sat around with picnics to supplement the paella. A lovely atmosphere and event.
The kids and I had to bid a hasty retreat when Nate had a serious nappy accident and I was unprepared, haha!

Today I'm grateful for;
1) Time with Natalia and Arlesiu.
2) Being pretty much packed.
3) Local fiestas and events such as this berenada. There will be fireworks at midnight too!
