Budding Lily

This lily has thrived this summer on the patio and produced a host of buds. As with other flower bulbs, lilies use their leaves to produce energy for next year’s flowers. I kept it over the winter and spring in the greenhouse where it had plenty of bright light to help it build up its reserves. After danger of frost was over I moved it outside for the summer.
