Rainy day jobs
It was decided that the next day that it rained heavily, on a Saturday, we would jet wash the veranda decking - it hasn’t been done for 3 years hence the colour.
The heavy rain deadened the sound of the noisy jet wash and also stopped the dirt, being thrown up, from showering neighbouring properties. The blip shows about a 5th of the whole space washed. MrH set the washer up and moved stuff out of the way whilst I did the main job. My feet and legs were so wet during and afterwards I feel like they’ll take a while to feel typical again (despite being towel dried!)
Its odd working in pouring rain and driving winds but it felt productive. The whole job took just under 2 hours.
I bought some decking oil a few weeks back from eBay using money from clothes I have sold over the last few months, the next step will by painting the area to try and preserve the wood. Hopefully there will be one sunny dry day when this can be done before the end of summer. It’s nice to have the warm wooden colour back but at the same time there are some areas that are going to need a bit more TLC. I’ve got a tree surgeon booked to give a quote next week so hopefully the place will soon be looking a bit more loved.
If you look carefully you can maybe spot a bit of the wisteria that is into its second flowering season of the year -only a few little bits but still rather lovely
MrH isn’t keen to go for a walk today as it’s still super blustery out there so I’m going to zip into town and get some steak for dinner as I’ve eaten relatively healthily all week and feel the need for some nurturing.
