Flood

Up to the top left of this picture and out of sight this river (Waiau) burst it's banks last night and closed the road that runs to The West coast and up the centre of the island. Luckily we had already passed that point some time earlier when The Boss had remarked that the river was getting scarily close to it's banks close to the road.

This is a big river normally but nothing like this and just to the left at the bottom of the picture and out of frame is an adventure centre where you can throw yourself off a very high bridge with rubber bands round your feet while your friends? Shout encouragement. I am pleased to announce that:
A Dogs don't do that. We have more sense and
B It was closed because the river was too dangerous for the recovery jet boat.

The Bossess however found it open for Coffee while The Boss walked across the one way bridge (The Ferry Bridge) and back up the road to get this picture. Click the link to see the normal situation at this time of year.
There were no problems on the road home and The Lindis Pass which had been closed and littered with abandoned cars last night was perfectly normal when we got there about 5.00 pm today with virtually no snow to be seen. Amazing.

The Bossess wants to thank you all for the amazing response to her blip choice yesterday. She is completely gobsmacked and honoured by all the comments and stars bestowed. The Boss will get to all the comments later but he is a bit tired tonight with the very long day and The Bossess is getting her sewing lady to let the headband on her hat out a bit. Hmmmmmmm?
