Day Shift
Lou was dropped off bright and early at 9:30am for my mum and I to look after for the day.
It was really nice having her to ourselves, and we had a lot of fun, although we did tag team so that the other one could make the tea, swap the washing over and tend to the dog!
I popped out to Sainsbury's to get some fruit, and when I came back Lucy helped me to unpack it. I showed her each item and asked her "what's this called?" and gave her them to hold. She loves strawberries as her mum doesn't buy them often! Whilst I was putting things in the fridge, she managed to poke a little hole in the box of blueberries and help herself to one! After that the strawberries went out of the window and all she wanted was my blueberries, which meant not a lot of lunch was eaten.....
She never tired, although there was some yawning and eye-rubbing. It was looking hopeful as we put a blanket and a cushion on Ro's exercise mat on the floor, plus the bunnies, and while she rested her head a couple times, it was clear that sleep wasn't going to happen!
Later on mum and Ro took her to the park, and then she had her dinner just as my sister came home. Unfortunately as per usual, she was pretty ungrateful and kept saying "I want to hear what my child has done all day" when everyone inevitably talked all over each other. It grates on me. My dad cheerfully pointed out that she'd had a day of free childcare....
Lucy was really happy and had a lovely day, but once she was gone I felt really narked and cross that once again our best hadn't been good enough.
My mum poured herself a large glass of wine, the dog collapsed in his bed and I sunk into a warm tub.....
Lucy Locket for 9 hours is a bit full on....;-)
