The Temporary Mercado

The reconstruction of the old Mercado is taking about a year. But the city has erected very large tents to handle the produce, bakery, floral, meat and seafood vendors; in the meantime.
In the upper background is the Convento do Pópulo. Dating from the last years of the 16th century. They have a space big enough in the front of the Pópulo to temporarily support those tents. 

I have included a picture from 1950 that shows 'that' exact space. The towers I blipped were cut off in the old photo.
