Meal time

We had a relaxed start to the day (after Polly's 6.20 alarm) and then said goodbye to the bar-headed geese (see Extras), donkeys and alpacas before heading down to Chichester Marina. We parked up, unloaded the pushchair and set off over the road to the canal and had a very pleasant walk halfway and back.

The canal was indeed teeming with wildlife, as advertised on the website and the information boards along the way. I once cycled along it with the Easy Riders, coming out at the canal basin in town, but you see a lot more on foot and there were loads of moorhens and coots of all age groups, little grebes with even littler babies, mallards, cormorants, a kingfisher, dragonflies and bees.
We were nearly back at the car when a torrential downpour hit without warning and we got soaked, although not as soaked as we would have had we been continuing along the tow path. Then we went over to East Wittering to get fish and chips before returning home to find that the house was...tidy and - apart from a sticky floor which is about to be rectified by Son2 - clean. So a good weekend all round :)
