Um burburinho

A buzz.

Chimoio has had more of a buzz around it than the other times I’ve visited. Perhaps the dry season fosters a certain level of activity as the streets are a lot more palatable than the time I was forced to cower under canopies during a lengthy rainstorm. The President’s visit and biodiversity event have likely contributed to the bustle. Whatever has caused it, the city has struck me as a decent place to spend more time, which I’ll have to do if our programme in Chimanimani grows.

Like in other provincial capitals, Chimoio’s old cinema catches the eye, even though redundant from its original function. It was named Montalto (high mountain: monte alto) because the country’s highest peak, Binga is located in this province of Manica.
