Brocante EB No 1!
No 1, because I’m sure there’ll be plenty more sleepy, uneventful days to come!
One of two vintage glass soda syphons brought back from France. We saw these syphons throughout Brittany, each one bearing the name of the café proprietor and town, etched into the glass and stamped into the metal collar, along with the date of manufacture. My syphon bears the name Jean Kernaléguen of Rosporden, and the date 1931.
Bought purely for its beautiful blue glass, the soda syphon is a genuine Breton souvenir: Rosporden is a town we passed through, and Kernaléguen is a Breton name. Best of all, these antique glass soda syphons are selling on eBay for up to £150, I paid €20! Not that I have any intention of selling it...
