Our first little house

I was impressed when driving by today to see a brand new fence. To think we paid $23,000 for this little house in 1978 and then sold it for $87,000 in 1988. Inflation was rampant those days and mortgage interest rates were nearly 20% in 1988. Out of interest I have just checked the 2016 rating valuation off the Christchurch City Council website and it is $435 000. Who says that there is no money in property investment?
