The trouble with Darters

Female Common and female Ruddy Darters are almost identical but the Common Darter has a thin yellow stripe on its legs which I usually can't see until I've taken a photograph. This one turned out to be a Common Darter - I'd almost decided it was a Ruddy largely because there was a male Ruddy showing interest.
