A monstrous regiment

Shutting the Church up before retiring to the Vicarage, the vicar was surprised to find five women standing in the aisle. It is always a shock to find that one is not as alone as one had thought, but, in this case, the shock was the greater because the five women comprised the vicar’s past and present wives. And still greater if one considered the fact that the vicar had personally presided over the funeral of four of them.
