Just checking

We had quite a chilled day with the children practicing swimming (bigger two) and jumping in (smaller two).

I’m now reading Hagseed by Margaret Atwood. Promising but there’s something about her ....

The villa owners also have apartments in the hamlet and tonight we signed up for a Tuscan dinner which they served in the garden at the side of our villa. We sat at a long table with 10 Koreans, a French couple with a baby and a toddler and an Italian couple and 2 bigger kids to have lovely antipasti, a pasta dish, a meat one and pudding with delicious wines from their own vineyards to complement the dishes, culminating in coffee and grappa.

2019 is not going to be a good year for Chianti wine as the grapes were hit by cold weather and hail at a crucial stage, so now some ripening but others are late

James, blipped from the garden, was keeping an eye on the proceedings. (He and Nathaniel had got a bit over-excited before bed, coming in to our room to “chat” but actually to shout to each other as many words they considered rude).
