The Hampsfell Hospice
The Hampsfell Hospice was built in 1835 by George Remington, a former Pastor from Cartmel, for "the shelter and entertainment of travellers over the fell". It is well built and has a view indicator mounted on its roof that can be accessed by the stone steps. Inside are plaques with various poems to uplift and amuse the resting traveller. It lies at 727ft at the summit of Hampsfell which is just a short walk from our house.
