Path for the postman

Last year I left the magnificent lavender to spill over the path and expected the postman to detour around on the grass.  But no. He waded through the lavender every time, disturbing all the bumble bees.  This year I've used chicken wire to hold them back and even in this wet weather when they are so heavy the bees are still finding flowers with nectar
