Composting

V. and I went out after breakfast this morning to the garden and moved the old compost pile onto a pallet in a different corner. The old location was randomly filled with large branches, and was too on display.

V. got to see earthworms and slugs in person for the first time. She was initially afraid of the earthworms, but once I picked up a couple for her to look at (she refused to touch) and explained to her that they are nice, not yucky, she warmed up the them. She spent several minutes spotting them and pointing them out to me in the patch of disturbed soil where the old compost pile had been.
