Jude's Birthday Trip

A trip along the Leeds - Liverpool canal on a hired boat, starting in Settle, was her choice of celebration. There were 10 adults, 1 baby, and a dog. Here is the birthday person, who would have believed she is 60 today!
The weather was kind to us and it seems to have been the perfect activity, with lots of choice of what to do. There was always someone waiting to steer and play captain. Swing-bridges needed swinging. Chilling and chatting were popular, as was holding little Arthur when he wasn't sleeping. At lunchtime there were samosas and bhajis to warm up and, despite the heat cups of tea were produced.
The canal and surroundings were very beautiful and being a weekend lots of people were out walking and cycling along the tow path.
Back home at the end of the day we all agreed it had been a brilliant choice of activity. Now there is talk of a holiday on a canal...
