Good-bye to the Rooves of Etroubles ...

.... in prefect weather this morning the sun lit up the peaks at the head of the valley towards the St. Bernard Pass. The traditional rooves of this part of Italy are made up of large flags of stone which age beautifully. They stay covered in snow, or not, according to their different aspects. They most certtainly outlast any other roofing material.
